My wife knows how much I'm into spiritual and mystical matters, and when she saw me reading about this topic, she thought what most people in the world would think.But this is not the original purpose of tantra. The over-sexualization of tantra to the detriment of its deeper side is widespread. As the author puts it, "The gap between what is typically taught versus the actual tantric teachings that can lead a seeker to Self-Realization is continually growing, leading to great misunderstanding".As a spiritual and mystical arts practitioner, I've had my share of metaphysical books and practices. I admire and respect the research that many tantra scholars do, but I always felt somewhat "sterile" after reading their works because they leave tantra's utilitarian angle in the shadows.I thought that maybe my desire for concise and self-directed tools to harness and use the power of tantra in my spiritual practices and life was a pipe dream. My eyes have witnessed so much theory on tantra books that I saw my only hope in finding the mythical guru. But the disillusionment that followed was always profound.But what about this book? I came to it with different expectations because I've read previous books by this author. And my expectations were met and perhaps even exceeded.In a nutshell: The author begins by showing the underlying motivation behind our actions and desires, and the inner mechanics of our state whenever we achieve a goal or satisfy a craving. Then we discover the authentic meaning and purpose of tantra and how we can use it to fulfill what we seek (bliss, wholeness). It is instantly noticeable that the author's approach has a contemporary edge.There are chapters dedicated to understanding the whole path, the kundalini energy, tantric purification, etc. Lastly, we learn tantric practices to achieve the highest goal of tantra (enlightenment) and then how to embody it in our experience of this black-grey-white world.It doesn't surprise me that SantataGamana has placed an enchanting touch into another spiritually misconstrued subject. This author has done the same to other topics before. Far from being the most technically skilled, this writing style is, unexpectedly, the most captivating to me. I'm not sure if it's the succinctness of the text or some "presence" behind it, but reading this book just lifts me into a joyful flow state, and it makes me want to keep reading it without pause.One of this author's strengths lies in the ability to express complex topics, teachings, and insights with clarity and concision. The warmth and clarity are beautiful. I will reread this book multiple times, but the first read is always unique, at least for me, even knowing that I will discover more in the text and myself with each subsequent read.Even if, for whatever reason, you disagree with some segments or chapters here and there, I don't see how anyone could deny that this is an honest presentation in what can potentially be a life-changing read.Grab this book, find a comfortable chair, and enjoy the journey.
